Phase 2 of We The Fest 2019 Announced by irvan wahyudi

WTF19 - Phase 2 Lineup - 60x75 - Scale - CS5-01.jpg

We The Fest, South East Asia’s #1 festival for music through to fashion, food and the arts, today make further additions to its burgeoning lineup of artists carefully selected from the very top of their respective genres. With the current titans of pop, hip-hop, bass and indie all on show, festival organisers Ismaya Live continue to assert We The Fest’s position as the go-to-festival of choice in the region.

New to the billing and making his Indonesian debut is Australian pop phenomenon Troye Sivan. Having made a steady rise to stardom over the last few years with Ariana Grande and Charli XCX collaborations, worldwide tours, and his latest smash hit ‘i’m so tired…’ with Lauv, Sivan is set to showcase his glistening performance in Jakarta come July. Joining him is another pop sensation that has exploded onto the scene in the past year, Anne-Marie. Her infectious sound, which includes an Ed Sheeran co-write on ‘2002’, and energetic shows will undoubtedly be a crowd favourite.

Taking things into a more electronic sphere is Norwegian producer extraordinaire Cashmere Cat. With an eclectic sound and mouth watering collaborations - including Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Kanye West to name a few - Cashmere Cat’s show promises to be one of a kind. In similar sonic territory and also joining the proceedings this year is future-bass trailblazer Jai Wolf and 88rising success story Joji. Together with returning Indonesian favourites Barasuara and Elephant Kind who both released chart-topping albums this year, indie heavyweights The Adams, and Pamungkas who will be making their festival debut, We The Fest 2019 looks set to have one of the most diverse and interesting lineups to date.

However, We The Fest has always prided itself on offering much more than just artist performances and this year is no different with the return of the festival’s ‘Beyond The Music’ area. Incorporating an Arts Village, Ismaya Food Town’s Eats & Beats food court, a Cinema Club where old and new movies will be on show, WTF Con where punters can interact with curated brands and media partners, and a Carnifun games section, ticket-holders will be spoilt for choice when they want to take a break from the music.

With tickets selling faster than in any previous years, and with new artists and activations still to be announced, fans are encouraged to get their tickets now to avoid disappointment.

The debut Indonesian show of Australian singer Ruel was filled with loud cheers from hundreds of his most loyal fans last night at Soehanna Hall, The Energy Building Jakarta.

A total of 13 songs were performed throughout the show that started at 8 PM, including Jack Garratt's "Weathered" that Ruel performed at triple J's Like A Version segment, making him the youngest ever act to perform there.

"This is one of the songs that started my journey," Ruel said before an audience that was dominated with young teens.

Aside from his hit singles such as "Dazed & Confused", "Not Thinkin' Bout You", and "Say",Ruel also took the opportunity to perform three unreleased songs which were "Real Thing", "Unsaid", and "Pain Killer".

The Weeknd's "Call Out Your Name" and John Legend's "Who Did That to You" were amongst the song in Ruel's 13-song setlist last night.

Ruel closed the show with two of his Gold-certified singles, "Don't Tell Me" and "Younger". "Thank you so much, I promise to come back here soon," Ruel said.

Ruel's Jakarta show was the seventh stop of his first Asian tour, Ready Tour 2019, that visited major cities in the continent including Manila, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur.

At just the age of 16 years old, Ruel has caught the world's attention with his soulful voice through Gold-certified singles including "Don't Tell Me" and "Dazed and Confused", taken off of his debut EP entitled "Ready" that was released June last year.

We The Fest Drops Star-Studded and Diverse Phase 1 Lineup by irvan wahyudi

WTF19 - Phase 1 Lineup - 60x75 - NO DRAFT-01.jpg

Indonesia’s premier festival for all things music, fashion, food and the arts, We The Fest, today announces its sonically diverse and star-studded phase one lineup:

Year on year, organisers Ismaya Live continue to outdo themselves with carefully curated lineups, pieced together with artists right at the top of their respective genres. The first headliner bound for Indonesia’s bustling capital this year is none other than viral hip-hop duo, Rae Sremmurd. Still riding a wave of success from their global hit ‘Black Beatles’, and specialising in party-friendly trap anthems, the Atlanta-based duo will be lighting up the WTF mainstage come July. They join multi-grammy-nominated R&B icon Daniel Caesar, who gained international attention with his Billboard #1 album Freudian back in 2017 and major follow up collaborations with the likes of H.E.R and Jessie Reyez. Also announced today and continuing on the R&B tip, is South-Korean sensation DEAN, and one of the hottest breakthrough acts currently on the circuit, 6LACK. With his music a nod to the sounds of Usher and T-Pain, his cuts including ‘OTW’ and ‘PRBLMS’ have struck a chord the world over.

Returning to Jakarta is one of Indonesia’s best loved bands, Cigarettes After Sex. With their sultry and emotionally charged tracks soothing the nation and beyond, their performance will certainly be one to remember. Taking things up a considerable gear is future-bass connoisseur San Holo, and one of house music’s rising stars Yaeji. Together with Australia’s most sought after DJ Anna Lunoe and New Zealand indie-pop sensation Baynk, there will be plenty to keep the party going right until curfew.

Flying the flag for pop is Toronto five-piece Alvvays, whose sugary melodies and dreamy chord progressions will be going down a treat with the Jakartan crowd, as will Jess ConnellySabrina Claudioand Rad Museum’s unique brand of soulful R&B.

Indonesian talent is also on display with the likes of Coldiac, TULUS, .Feast and rock outfit DEWA19 featuring Ari Lasso & Dul Jaelani, showing why the country continues to put out some of the most exciting music in the region.
